There isn’t anything in the world I crave more than Tijuana street food! From tostilocos, diablitos, tacos al vapor, and of course mulitas de asada, I can’t ever find enough time to eat my favorites when I visit TJ! Lucky for me, I’ve learned to make my favorite street foods with what I have to feed my cravings and lately, mulitas have been on my mind!
I was 9 years old when I had my first mulita in Tijuana and it’s been a favorite ever since! It’s not quite a taco and not quite a quesadilla but somewhere in the middle and just as delicious! I like to try new things so I made dinner for the family using Flatout bread FoldIt and man did the family love these versions of my favorite street food!
I’ve been making Mulitas de asada on a Flatout FoldIt for lunch every chance I get! YASSSS they’re that good and so easy to make! Here’s what you need to make a Mulita de Asada on a Flatout FoldIt:

- 1 Flatout FoldIt bread
- 2 thin slices of Milanesa meat
- 2tbs garlic salt
- 1/4 cup of shredded Monterrey jack cheese
- Finely chopped cilantro and onion
- Mashed avocado
- 2tbs vegetable oil
- Season Milanessa meat with garlic salt on both sides.
- At medium heat, add the vegetable oil on to a pan and add the meat.
- Cook meat until evenly cooked on both sides and remove from heat.
- Dice meat into small squares.
- On a griddle, at Medium Heat, place a Flatout FoldIt.
- Add cheese and fold. Flip over until cheese is melted and remove from heat.
- Open your Flatout FoldIt and fill with meat, cilantro, onion, and avocado.
- Fold close and enjoy!
- Have leftover carne asada? Use that for a faster lunch meal!

Now I didn’t know if it would work out the first time I mean a flatbread vs a tortilla come on! BUT man was I happily surprised! This mulita was softer, stayed warmer longer, and helped keep all my toppings in.
Flatout FoldIt was easy to heat on my comal and the cheesy goodness I layered was waiting to ooze out!
Here’s a quick look of how I assemble my mulita. Of course, you can add anything you would to a taco in your mulita too!
Are you craving this street food now? You should! Try them with Flatout Foldit bread It really is a healthier choice and a great alternative to tortillas, in my opinion! They’re low in fat, have a good source of fiber and the variety of Flatout bread make the possibilities endless.
